Quality of Life

A primary reason for a site choice is quality of life, which appeals to employees as well as executives. Favorable QOL is in the eye of the beholder, but a community's living characteristics can be evaluated just as well as its business structure.

Is it valid to choose a site because it is a nice place to live? Absolutely. JPR helps the client evaluate both tangible and intangible QOL factors in candidate communities, and to quantify the differences.

Quality of Life should be carefully considered by the company, selecting and evaluating those factors considered to be important. Management may want to live in the area where the facility is, but even if it doesn't, quality of life is increasingly important to those who will work in the facility. A favorable life style will attract qualified people to the location.

Some quality of life elements can be quantified, such as cost of living, schools, medical facilities, crime rates, taxes. Others are more subjective; do you like to walk the beach or ski? Golf or sail? Visit museums and concerts? Do you like the features of a big city or the quiet of a small town? JPR uses questionnaires to define the QOL in a community but we leave it to the client to make the choice. Some categories on the questionnaires are:

Amusements, Churches, Climate, Communications, Commuting travel time, Cultural events, Dining out, Education, Historical Features, Medical, Natural Attractions Nearby, Organizations, Outdoor Recreation, Professional Sports, Ranking in national survey, and Shopping

Success in international site search is easier with experienced, objective, confidential assistance in the destination country. JPR does not work for communities or states, to avoid conflict of interest. Our objective is to find the most satisfactory solution for our clients.
